Do I need a satellite dish for DIRECTV via Internet?
No. DIRECTV via Internet uses a small Gemini streaming box connected to your TV and your home Wi-Fi. Nothing is mounted on the roof, which makes it ideal for apartments, condos, HOAs and rentals.
How good does my internet need to be?
A steady home connection is what matters most. Typical cable and fiber plans handle multiple TVs with room to spare; slower rural DSL or fixed-wireless can struggle. Tell us your provider and we’ll give you a straight answer — and if streaming isn’t a fit, satellite works with no internet at all.
Do I get local Charlotte channels and sports?
Yes. DIRECTV via Internet includes your local Charlotte stations, and Choice and above include regional sports networks. Channel counts are lower than satellite (90 to 185+ versus 165 to 340+), so if you want the biggest lineup, ask us about satellite.
Is there a contract?
No annual contract. DIRECTV via Internet is month-to-month and can be cancelled anytime. The Gemini device is leased at $10/month. Prices are subject to change, and we walk through every line before you sign up.
Can I use it at a second home, the lake house or an RV?
The Gemini box travels with you and works anywhere you have a good internet connection, so many customers use it at a lake house or when they travel. Ask us about the details for your situation.
Can I record shows and watch on my phone?
Yes. Unlimited-hours Cloud DVR is included at no extra cost on every package, with unlimited simultaneous recordings, and the DIRECTV app lets you watch on phones, tablets and smart TVs. We set up the app for you on setup day. (Recordings expire after 9 months; data connection required.)
Is there an activation fee?
No. Unlike satellite, DIRECTV via Internet has no activation fee. The only equipment cost is a $10/mo Gemini lease fee, and there is no annual contract — cancel anytime.
Can you also get me better internet?
Often, yes. NCWD Direct is an authorized AT&T Fiber and Kinetic by Windstream dealer, so if your current connection is holding you back we can check what’s available at your address and, in many cases, set both up together.
